Wonderful road-trip to the green state!

Drone footage of Proxy Falls and Dee Wright Observatory

Multnomah falls

We arrived at this magnificent waterfall in the afternoon after driving nearly 12 hours from San Jose, CA. Since it is pretty famous, there were tons of people at this waterfall.

Ainsworth State Park

This was where we camped. This campsite is right next to the historic road leading to several water falls, and along the Columbia River.

Ristorante Di Pompello

We stopped at the nearest city to have dinner at Ristorante Di Pompello, which looked like a fancy restaurant so we were kind of worry that it would be expensive. However, we were pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was! We paid $25 for 3-course meals for 2 and the portion was huge! I had never had that many fresh seafood for $12.5 in the US! After the dinner, we walked around the main street and returned back to our campsite.

Horsetail Falls

This waterfall was only a few minutes away from our campground and it was accessible from the street. There was a small parking lot across the fall. Since the falls was pretty small and unimpressive, we only stopped there for a few minutes.

Oneonta Tunnel

The tunnel is about 1 minute driving from Horsetail Falls and it is not that impressive. There is a small staircase leading to the stream underneath the bridge. Once crossing a small dam, one can see gorgeous rock walls on each side the whole way to a waterfall.

Hillsboro is the fifth-largest city in the State of Oregon and is the county seat of Washington County. Lying in the Tualatin Valley on the west side of the Portland metropolitan area, the city hosts many high-technology companies, such as Intel, that comprise what has become known as the Silicon Forest.

St Johns Bridge

We drove from Hillsboro through the Forest Park to fly the drone around it. About a few miles away from Hillsboro, there are only farms and forests. The drive through the Forest Park is pretty windy but beautiful. However, the Cathedral park is disappointing as it is surrounded by sketchy neighborhood, so we flew the drone for about 5 minutes and came back to Hillsboro to visit an old friend.

Detroit Dam

The drive to Proxy Falls was beautiful, especially around Detroit Dam. We stopped there to breath in the mountain air and watch people fishing at the lake.

Proxy Falls

A hike to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Oregon. There is one stream cascades into two separate shimmering veils dropping 226 feet (68.885 m).

Dee Wright Observatory

On the way out of Proxy falls, we stopped at Dee Wright Observatory settled atop vast, black lava flows to fly the drone. This place has beautiful panoramic view of the Mount Washington and Three Sisters Wilderness areas. Historically, the Dee Wright Observatory is constructed on the lava flow which erupted from Yapoah Cone 2,600 to 2,900 years ago; this flow overlaps an earlier flow from the Little Belknap Crater.

Diamond Lake

We camped at Diamond Lake Campground, which was spacious and full amenities. However, we had never seen such huge mosquito and that many before, and I am a Vietnamese who had lived with mosquito for years!
